Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro Review

Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro – Click to enlarge

Gamo is a name that I know and trust. The Whisper Fusion Pro was a rifle that I’ve been eyeing for a few months now. Featuring noise dampening technology and a blazing fast shot at 1400 FPS, this .177 is one of my favorite .177 caliber options and it even comes with a decent scope that makes the Fusion Pro complete. At a 43” total length and a weight of exactly 8 pounds, this is a rifle that I love to bring out for target practice. There is also a .22 caliber option available. I’ll only be reviewing the .177.

Fast, Silent Shot

Loading the rifle up with PBA Platinum pellets, you’ll achieve a velocity of 1400 feet per second. This is lightning fast compared to other models that have a FPS of 800 – 900. With different pellets, the FPS will obviously drop.

Shooting in your backyard? The dual noise dampening technology will ensure that your neighbors never hear a peep. While efficient, this is not 100% noise proof, but it is very quiet.

While I love this model for plinking, you can take out small game and pests with ease.

Smooth, the two-stage adjustable trigger has a pull of 3.74 pounds, and the cocking effort is 41 pounds. Cocking may be difficult for younger users, so I recommend this rifle for adults. However, teens should have no issue with this rifle at all.

Using a break-barrel, this rifle is easy to shoot and doesn’t require any pumping on your part. There is even a non-slip texture on the grip and forearm to ensure you maintain a tight grip at all times.

As far as recoil is concerned, the butt plate is a shock wave absorber and there is a recoil pad. This pad will absorb 74% of the recoil, allowing you to cock and shoot faster without throwing off your shot in the process.

Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro 4Great Scope

If you’ve read any of my other air rifle reviews, you’ll know that included scopes are usually pretty bad. I was shocked at how well the 3-9×40 rifle scope performed. You can adjust the objective and zoom right in on your target before pulling the trigger. For killing small pests or animals, this is definitely a major bonus at this price range.

I will note that you need to get fairly close to the scope. This did take some time to get accustomed to at first.

Pros

The Gamo Whisper Fusion is a great all-around rifle that’s perfect for adults that are beginners or advanced shoots. A decent scope, great shooting and a highly accurate shot at 1400 FPS (with the .177) is more than enough reason to give this rifle serious consideration.

Cons

One concern is that this model isn’t whisper quiet. Is it quieter than most? Yes, but it’s not by much. However, the extreme accuracy makes up for the louder-than-expected crack as the pellet leaves the barrel.

The Bottom Line

Gamo’s Whisper Fusion Pro may not be as quiet as a whisper, but it does dampen the sound. Featuring two caliber sizes, .177 and .22, shooters will be able to choose the perfect air rifle for plinking or killing small game. A 3x9x40 scope that actually works well is also included. The Fusion is one of the better rifles we’ve tested in the $200 – $300 range.
